The Pinot Meunier grape, as fabulous as it is, is rarely bottled as a red. It is typically used as a blending grape in our sparkling wines. For the past several years, we’ve been living on the wild side and bottling it as a delicious red table wine, something that is quite rare the world over. This rarity makes it even more special, more delicious. Our 2017 vintage is perhaps our lightest, most sumptuously fruity red we’ve ever released. It has a lovely and light ruby hue inviting you to engage in a wondrously sensual existential quandary: Is it red? Is it rose? Strawberry confit and cranberry jam sprawl out in a cola-infused bouquet and are realized on the sip. A little under a year of French oak laces the nose with a core of vanilla. Rose petal, dust, and cherry pit persist on the finish. The texture is so silky, it reaches to a buttery hilt on the edge of the sip. Unctuous yet spry with a gently acidity pressing against the pluck of tannin, Think of light Italian reds in this regard. We recommend chicken parmesan and other like dishes, although this vintage is so tasty all on its own, especially as you marvel your way from eying the color to the rumination on the sip—a very special red, indeed.
